In 2024, I released my debut album, .beyond_____(ECSTASY). I really loved (and still love!) that album, but towards the end of making the album, I felt like my music was growing in a different direction. Dance music (mostly House) felt extremely natural for me, which makes sense since I live in Chicago - it really felt like I was doing my part in honoring the city's heritage by putting my own spin on House music combined with my distinctive, weird sound that was .beyond_____(ECSTASY).
I spent a lot of time working and finding my sound, and this EP is the result of that hard work. If you loved .beyond_____(ECSTASY), this new EP feels like the logical next step of that album, with tighter and more exciting songwriting (and also tighter mixing/mastering for all the production nerds out there).
House Music for Enhancing the Body, Vol. 1 feels different enough to set itself apart from my debut album. It's dissonant in some parts and melodic in others, it's filled with energetic grooves and drum breaks, and it even has an anthem against Spotted Lanternflies in Chicago (obviously).
